Sam watched the trailer for The Dressmaker, which looks kind of amazing.
This Sunday Anika will be on a panel about ‘Shakespeare and Star Trek’ at the 50 Year Mission Tour, Cherry Hill so she’s been watching related episodes such as “The Conscience of the King” (TOS) and “The Defector” (TNG) and, of course, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (You haven’t experienced Shakespeare until you’ve read him in the original Klingon!).
Anika also finished watching the Starz ballet miniseries Flesh And Bone, which is an explosion of ballerina tropes with a healthy side of extreme family dysfunction and gothic melodrama. It’s intense. Like, the television series it most reminds her of is Hannibal intense. Producer Moira Walley-Beckett is an acclaimed writer for Breaking Bad, which Anika has never seen, and her next project is adapting Anne of Green Gables for Netflix, which Anika CANNOT WAIT TO SEE.
Pat Shand (who wrote the excellent, queer-friendly, feminist Robyn Hood Sam’s been yammering about for two years) released the first five pages of his new, creator owned book called Destiny, NY. Sam read the entire first issue (in its very early form) and it was great.
