Anika is off to New York Comic Con this weekend, so you’re getting my Week in Review by itself. Expect lots of fun NYCC updates next week, though; I’ve seen the list of panels Anika wants to go to and I’m she’ll have plenty to talk about.
They finally announced a date for the The Legend of Korra comic, except it’s now a graphic novel series instead of an ongoing comic. Ah well! It picks up where the series left off (KORRASAMI 5EVER) and is written by one of the creators of the show.
Speaking of big comic news: BATWOMAN’S BACK! Well, she’s been back for a few months in the pages of the actually-pretty-good Detective Comics, but she’s going to get her own ongoing series starting in 2017 and, most importantly, it’s being co-written by Marguerite Bennett. This is the first time a woman has written Kate Kane in main continuity, let alone a queer woman, and I am super excited for it.
Ahead of the trailer release at NYCC Saturday, they’ve released a teaser for John Wick: Chapter 2.
I never expected to like John Wick, didn’t bother with it in theaters, but now it’s one of my all-time favorite action movies.
While I’ve got the floor, can I just recommend a couple of new fall shows that I hope everyone (or at least some people) will watch so they continue? Pitch, which is far deeper than you might think just from the commercials leading up to it, and The Good Place, a comedy about the after life that’s getting better with each episode.
That’s it! Thanks, everyone, have a great weekend!
